The Orleans Nordic Ski Club (ONSC) has been operating out of the east end of the National Capital Region since 1980. Incorporated but community based and entirely volunteer directed and operated, the ONSC has had three homes; first, in association with the Queenswood Heights Community Association in Orleans; second, from Cumberland’s Roy Kennedy Hall; and, for the last 8 years from the Danis Clubhouse at the Hornet’s Nest on Bearbrook Road just north of Blackburn Hamlet.
Over the years, the Club has been entirely member funded and, in that time the Club has introduced hundreds of adult and youth skiers to the wonders of winter through cross country skiing. The Club has produced skiers who have successfully competed at the provincial and national levels in the sport although the Club is not structured as a racing club.
